Pre-Cast With A Difference

…they were created in a short time, each in its fineness was then at once age-old; but in the freshness of its vigor it is even to present day, recent and newly wrought”.
Plutarch speaking of the Acropolis

Castlestone has grown in response to a reawakened appreciation of classical architecture We employ a team of highly skilled craftsmen who are dedicated to restoring the old as good as new and creating the new in a form to be proud of. The fierce and very personal commitment to quality of the Castlestone Management Team is captured in the quotation above, which encapsulate the standards, that Castlestone, Inc. strives to achieve.

Precast concrete is an ancient type of construction material made with concrete cast in a reusable mold or "form" and cured in a controlled environment, then transported to the construction site and lifted into place. In contrast, standard concrete is poured-in-place in large forms and cured on site. Precast "stone" is distinguished from precast concrete by using a fine aggregate in the mixture so the final product approaches the appearance of naturally occurring rock or stone.

Ancient Roman builders made use of concrete and soon poured the material into molds to build their complex network of aqueducts, culverts and tunnels. Modern uses for precast technology include a variety of architectural applications including free-standing walls used for landscaping, soundproofing and security walls. Precast architectural panels are also used to clad all or part of a building facade. Storm water drainage, water and sewage pipes and tunnels make use of precast concrete units. The advantages of using precast concrete is the increased quality of the material, when formed in controlled conditions, and the reduced cost of constructing large forms used with poured-in-place concrete. There are many different types of precast concrete forming systems for architectural applications -differing in size, function and cost.

Castlelite is a new product that is as strong and sustainable as conventional masonry. It reduces both labor costs and construction time and allows quick and efficient installation. Weighing approximately 30 to 50 pounds per cubic foot as compared to 130 pounds for standard solid masonry. Castlelite provides significant benefits where weight is a concern in building design.

Besides the unique architectural features, Castlelite is extremely compatible with other building systems and materials like porte-cocheres, balustrades, columns and cills. Many creative designs can be achieved by combining these materials without any loss of functionality. The money saved by faster installation, less labor costs and fewer finish material, makes Castlelite the right product for your next project.
